October is Head Start Awareness Month. But, you may not even know that Head Start is. Head Start is a program of the Department of Health and Human Services that provides early childhood education to low-income children and their families. Over one million children across the country attend Head Start. This program helps at-risk children get prepared for Kindergarten.
